does anyone know where I could get a pattern for making a hotsling/peanut shell type sling? I really dont want to take mine apart in case I cant put it back together right. I kinda do the whole sewing thing by hit or miss.

a ring sling would be easier because it would be adjustable so you wouldn't have to get the fit just right. And you can buy the rings anywhere that sells horse tack. Just use the big brass rings they sell. They are more then sturdy enough, designed to bear the stress of a 1 ton horse pulling on it.

I don't think you'd have to take yours apart to use it to make a pattern. There's a free pattern available online for a doll sling. I've made it, and it's really easy. I don't think a full size pouch would be harder unless you want it to be adjustable.

Jan Andrea has instructions for both pouches (like a hot sling) and ring slings. If you do a simple gathered shoulder a ring sling couldn't be simpler. The pouch is simple to sew too, but you need to get the size right for it to work well.
