Help switching to cloth for potty learning

My DD has started showing an interest in the potty thanks to one of her older brothers. Yesterday she sat on the potty and it was a fight to get her to leave it alone and go back down and put a diaper on. She was sitting on it without a diaper trying to pee. She was in the bathroom when DS2 was using it and couldn't not sit on it.

Today I went up to use the potty, she came up and had to have her clothes and diaper removed to sit on the potty. She kept sitting down and getting up. Next thing I know she is walking over to me with a slightly damp hand after she had put it in the potty chair cup. I went to the potty, and I know it was dry when she started out, but there was about 1-2 tablespoons worth of pee in it.

I think she can tell during the day when she is wet and does not like it. I want to encourage without forcing this, I figured if I switched to cloth diapers or training pants (I hate those gerber things), it would encourage her without forcing the issue.

But I have no clue how to start. She will be the first I have used cloth on. The boys were both older, so I did underwear inside of the pull up, so they could tell they were wet.

With my three children after they were two and could sleep through a nap dry, express themselves well enough to tell me they had to use the bathroom, express an interest, and pull their pants down on their own, it was time. I just put them in underware and when they had an accident they had to clean it up themselves. It took less than a week to potty train, I would never have to remind them or ask, they took care of all of it on their own. Use the thinest underware possible though if they are ready so that if they do have an accident they are uncomfortable.

There are cloth training pants, which may be better than the diapers at this point. They do have some absorbency and depending on the brand, can feel wet.

As pp said, you may just want to try underwear. They do make underwear style training pants that are cotton and have just a little absorbency, if regular underwear is too thin.

I agree with the above posters. I'd go for some type of fairly absorbent loth training pants.

gmd carries starbunz and imse vimse trainers, which are a bit thicker than underwear and have a waterproof layer so even though the child can feel that they're wet, they won't soak their pants.
When my brother was learning, he had extra thick underwear, but used a pull-up waterproof cover until he had the hang of it a bit more, so I think the layer of waterproofing is a good idea.
