A residual seizure disorder (RSD) caused by vaccination can be defined as a seizure that occurs within 72 hours of vaccination and that is followed by two or more afebrile seizures during the next 12 months (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1992)... Subsequent seizures would be anticipated in succeeding years. Approximately 0.5 to 2 percent of the population experience epilepsy. It can occur at any age. ...

My friends daughter has seizures. The first time she had them was in her sleep, and my friend found out because they were cosleeping. It was around the time of the MMR, BUT I will have to ask her when she got the MMR and when those seizures started. All I know is I said I was glad she chose to co-sleep past a year, because a lot of people pressure you not to, but she did what she felt was right and thats why she found out about the seizures. After the initial seizure her daughter had 13 more while in the care of dr.'s. They "dont know why" she has had more since, and has to take medicine every day as a preventative measure.

She was very provaccine, her and I use to debate the subject all the time. I never felt comfortable for that reason pointing out that her daughter kept getting sick after vaccination. When her daughter started exhibiting a lot of behaviors that my son did, I just offered advice on what to do. When she asked me if I thought it was vaccine related, I told her I had noticed this with her daughter, but I didn't want to offend her. So she looked at her daughters health care records and found her child had been getting very ill every time she got vaccinated.

It caused some delays physically and cognitively, however at age 2 her daughter is starting to do much better, but does have some sensory issues, and is still behind in speech. I don't know about developmentally, but her daughter is walking now, and is even potty trainined! (more then I can say for my 2 eldest!)

Her doctors never made the connection to the vaccines. She is a nurse and had previously strongly believed that vaccines were safe and effective. I think now she is more skeptical, but I haven't pushed her on information for what she has ultimately decided to do in the future. I think she is going to continue to vaccinate because "there are only a few left for her daughter to be fully vaccinated". Even after a reaction, we can all still come to different conclusions. Her daughter had no problems with her 2 year vaccinations thankfully
