low hormone levels

Hi all-

Had some spotting(brown) just right before my period would have been due on Feb 2. I had my hormone levels checked as well as my HCG.

so, at 14 days past ov..my HCG was 750
Progesterone 14,
Estrogen ..100 something

Then 2 days later my HCG went up to 3500 so that was good. They didn't retest prog and est.

The Dr. wanted to put me on an estrogen patch..estrodiol and prometrium. I was a little apprehensive from what I had read about birth defects on safefetus.com, so opted for natural progesterone oil, called progesterelle.

not sure what to do about the estrogen.
I should tell you that in my past pregnancies, I had 2 at home and 2 in the hospital, one a c section, this one would be a c section too because of a 4th degree laceration with baby #3. I have an appointment tomorrow with my homebirth doctor to see what he recommends for the low hormones. I have not had anymore spotting.I am a bit uncomfortable with those synthetic hormones and would like alternatives if necessary. My chiro told me that if estrogen was too low, I would not have ovulated.

Any advice?
Oh, and I am not as young as I use to be LOL, I am 39 so maybe my hormones are just getting lower due to age?????

I'm not sure low estorgen matters in pregnancy. Progesterone does and I think 14 is on the low side.

I don't think 14 is low for progesterone. Mine was 13 a couple days ago, and my doctor said that was well within the acceptable amount for ~5 wks. She said normal is between 4 and 50. How far along are you? I don't know about estrogen, but I haven't heard of it being a concern for pregnancy. I would get a second opionion or do some internet research to see if that's something you even need to worry about it. As far as a natural estrogen supplement, maybe you could try your local health food store?

Your HCG looks good! I know nothing about estrogen but at 3w my progesterone was 13.1 and I decided to do progesterone suppositories. The range for the first trimester is 9-47 and I have had to very recent miscarriages and decided to go ahead and do the progesterone. I do 1, 100mg suppository twice a day.
