What is/how should I cook my pork picnic roast?

I bought a 4-pound pork roast from a local farmer. The only labelling says it's a "picnic pork roast." What is that? It's not smoked and it's organic--and it cost me $26!!! I don't want to mess it up! I have a slow cooker and some root veggies, plus some chicken broth if needed-lots of spices. Any advice?

Thanks.

That's the ideal cut for doing pulled pork. If you can get your hands on a smoker, it'd be great, but you can probably do a good approximation even without. Alton Brown has a good recipe.

Thanks, spughy. I slow-roasted this one, but I'm really eager to try the pulled pork.
