saving aluminum cans

Hi All,
Does anyone think right now it is worth it to save these?
I can get a few a week at work and occassionally from home.
The center is just a little out of the way to work.

Ideas/experiences mamas?

We save them for our dance academy and have made approx 400.00 in the last couple of years. Not bad for trash.

I am in MN.

Aluminum is way down right now due to supply and demand. Save them now and around late Spring - early Summer (when production hopefully picks up again) you can cash in on them. Around here right now, I think they are going for 30+/- cents a pound. They were going for 80+ cents a pound last Spring. Figure about 34 cans to equal a pound. Also be sure you aren't dealing with a middle-middle man. Take your cans directly to a large scrap yard in your city. Prices will vary from place to place.

i don't understand the question:
- are you asking if you should bother with them at all? i.e., just let them go to the garbage?
- are you asking if you should collect them to cash in later instead of sending them to the city recycling facility?

my life is too complicated to try to save them for the cash, but I'll go way way way out of my way to make sure they don't end up in the garbage.

cans

We already have a recycling program. I am looking to save money--even pennies at this point, so either way, they will not go in the garbage.

Thanks mamas!
