Quick kombucha question

So I just bottled up my kombucha, then took a good look at my SCOBY.

It had a dark film on the bottom. The bottom SCOBY had ripped in half.

Would you still drink this batch? I tasted it, and it tasted fine. But what do I know!

Also all my SCOBY's have been REALLY bumpy and not smooth and pretty like the one I got from Cultures of Health. Why is this?

Mine sometimes gets a dark slime thing going on the side down in the kombucha. I think it's just like a blob that you see floating around sometimes. If it tastes fine, I would drink it, lol

thank you. That's what I'm thinking too. I really need it right now, feeling sluggish and icky!

That's how mine always looks. I just strain it since the texture of the blob isn't too pleasing

My scobys are very weird looking! It took a full 14 days almost to really make more than a slimey film that I had to take off. These things kind of ick me out. I think I had some dark strand like things in one too. Is it normal for them to vary so much?

Mine stills tastes sweet, despite the added vinegary taste. Is that normal after over 10 days?

If I add lemonade to it as suggested by a kombucha-drinking friend, should I do it just before drinking, or can I just keep it in the fridge that way once it's done?

Also, can I store a spare scoby in the fridge for a while in a little kombucha? Or what is the best way to just keep it for a while?

And this is the reason that my husband has pretty much decided ignorance is bliss when it comes to what we eat.

I hear you! My husband still refuses to drink the kombucha despite seeing me drink it and our friends drink it. It freaks him out.
