Stopped Birth Control Last Month

My husband and I made a joint decision and I stopped taking birth control for good this year after taking it since late 2000 every month faithfully. My period came normally. I am taking folic acid every day along with vitamin C and a multivitamin and we will start seriously trying to have a family in about a year. I am very excited about the future and being a mommy! ::
I am one of those that never gave much thought to being a mom even in my committed relationship until suddenly one day it hit me around 22-23, it was an insane surge of biological clock hormones or something because after that moment that I wanted kids and all these kids that I see around are adorable too.
I have great support from my husband about limited vaccinations and breastfeeding, but after coming here my head is spinning with other questions that we need to figure out.

Good luck to you! I've gotten pregnant twice very quickly after stopping the birth control pill.

If you aren't wanting to conceive right away, be sure to use another method (NFP, condoms, etc.). Like the PP said, you can conceive right away or it could take awhile. There's no way to know until it happens.

Thank you both. I have been reading up like crazy.
I find it interesting on this site many refer to parents as young parents when in their 20's. I am in my 20's and feel very old! I wished I could have kids when I was around 24-25 but we just weren't in a place to do that at that time.

Hi! I am pretty much in the same position as you. I stopped taking the pill in early December because we are planning to start trying in March. At the same time, I started taking a prenatal vitamin. This week is my preconception doctor's visit (just want to have a few things checked out before we try).

The only other thing I have done so far is to quit caffeine--did that last weekend. At first it was a little tough but now I feel great! I don't get mid-afternoon headaches anymore, which I now think were from the caffeine wearing off. I am just drinking some decaf tea now instead.

I know what you mean about feeling "old" in your 20s...I'm 24 and feel like I could have already had a few kids! My mom was 22 when her first (me) was born. We wanted to wait until we were somewhat financially stable. I've always been kind of an "old lady" though--not to mention sometimes I feel more mature than some people I know who are in their 30s.

Good luck with everything!

Not at this point--my mom has warned me all my life about how "easily" the women in our family get pregnant, so we're going to just wing it right now based on AF and the fact that my cycle is a really regular 28 days. If it doesn't work the first month or two, I'll probably learn to chart.

How about you?

Exactly the same here. I figure it will be easy; my cycle is also regular. But if it doesn't happen within a short time frame I will learn.
