Credit card processing/Merchant acct recs?

Does anyone have any recommendations for credit card processing? I used to use propay but their transactions limits don't really work for me. My credit isn't that great so I can't get a merchant account from a bank (at least not last I tried).

Thanks!

I use Paypal. I've been with them since 2003 and haven't had any issues. I find thier fees for CC processing are compairable to propay and other merchants.

Thanks, but I need one that can take offline cards...where the customer doesn't need a paypal account, kwim? I know that paypal does offer an option like that but it requires a credit app and the fees are pretty high IMO

:

I use Paypal Pro right now and it allows customers to pay with a credit card directly on my site as well as allow me to enter their information myself (which I personally refuse to do--I don't want to be responsible for people's info and I don't do in-person sales). It is spendy ($30 mo plus transactions fees of $.30 per transaction and 2.9%).

Subbing to see what better deals are out there.

None of my clients need a Paypal account to pay me and I never had to do a credit app. There's the Paypal business account and Paypal Pro, they are 2 different things. Its Paypal Pro that requires the monthly fee. I have just the business Paypal and I only get charges the .30 a transaction and %2.9 fee. Pro is that PLUS $30. But the Pro one allows you to take offline card transactions as well. Neither requires a Paypal account to make a payment.

All of the other merchant accounts I've seen charge $25-35 or more a month for fees as well. Its pretty standard, and a per transaction fee.

I use the Paypal debit card as well and I get %1 cash back on purchases, IMO that helps make up for the fees too.

I use merchant warehouse and they seem to be very reasonably priced and have different options available as to what you need. I see that you need to take cc offline, does that mean you need a cc recording machine. I have a machine that I swipe their card and when I get home I connect it to the phone line and then send in the batch. I sell at farmers markets, school bazaars and home parties and find that people buy more if they can pay with cc and I am not liable for paper with cc info written on it.

Would you mind sharing what their charges are? I'm not seeing a price list on their site. I could just be missing it but it looks like they want to talk to people and I'm not in the mood to deal with sales people

Sorry I did not see this earlier! I will check and post tomorrow the prices that I pay. My brain is currently not working and needs some sleep before it can process any information

Okay here it is.
I paid $125 for my cc machine. It is a Store & Forward where I can swipe the card and it prints a receipt for the customer to sign and one for me. I then go home plug it into my phone line and batch the cc's. It will give me a approval number and I am good to go. There is a chance of getting a bad card and not knowing it right away but that is business, kwim?

They charge me $7.95 a month no matter how much or little I due.

% wise it is as follows (Visa, MC & Discover)
1.69%
1.79% for mid-qualified
1.99% for non-qualified

.21 per batch
.21 per swipe

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I use Paypal Pro also, have been happy with it, and have found that it helps to minimize abandoned carts.
