Right now, I'm exclusively using the back carry. For one thing, he's heavy, for another, I've got a big pregnant tummy, and it isn't too comfy having him sitting on/squishing baby.
I put him kind of high on my back, with the waist straps over my stomach, and the back straps "back-pack"-like.
It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm working around the house or will be going on a longer shopping trip or think she's going to nap, I'll wear her on my back. If it's a quick in and out then I put her on the front.
Depends on the age. Mostly front when they need to nurse a lot, mostly back when they're older or when I'm doing something that's too hard with a baby on the front, like dishes or cooking.
i predominantly back carry, but with wee little ones i do front carries frequently. front carries in any carrier hurt my back/neck/shoulders a lot after baby gets over about 18 pounds.
Depends on age and size. I love doing back carries for the convenience. These days, with my 15 month old, 25+ pound dd, I can only do front carries for nursing and only for a little while!
mostly on front, but if we are doing nature walks I put him on my back. I don't like trying to get him on my back by myself either, so I wait till my hubby this there to help me.
I alternate between a ring sling and my mei tei too. he likes being upright on my hip in the ring sling, but the mei tei feels better on my back so I use that one more when we will be out for a while
I wear DS on my front when we're out and about because I zip my coat over both of us. I still find it very comfy to wear him on my front even though he's a chunky monkey (8 months and about 23.5 lbs) but my mei tai is a very sturdy, very padded bamberoo. I also wear him on my front on occaisions when we'll be sitting at some point (church, taking the bus). When I'm doing chores or just walking about the home I put him on my back. I imagine he'll be on my back when we're out and about in warmer weather too.
I wear my DD pretty exclusively on my back. When she was little, it was only on the front. Especially when she was nursing a lot.
When she was about 3 months/15-18 pounds I started back carrying, and for a while it was 50/50 - but I have to say - that back carries are more comfortable because of where the baby's weight is distributed on your body.
front as caden still falls asleep a lot whille out and about and i'm still a little paranoid about wearing him in the mei tai on my back whille he is sleeping.
back carries are easier on my shoulders but I only use that when i am cooking really hot or splattery stuff on the stove. she MUCH prefers the front.
we are having trouble putting the baby in as she braces her feet on the bottom and locks her knees so she is standing, i kind of have to squish her to get her in there now
