We DVR so many things, I am too embarrased to list them here.
BUT, it reminds me of a conversation I had with someone when we were trying to decide whether to get a DVR. She said, "It will change the way you watch TV forever." And it really has. We no longer watch anything we don't want to watch...just to have something on. The kids always have something appropriate to watch (which is big for us, because there is a LOT out there that they are not allowed to watch).
And, we never watch commercials anymore, which I love. On occassion, we will watch something that's playing "live" and everytime a commercial comes on, DH and I are both frantically pushing the FF button to no avail. We always end up pausing it and doing something else for 15-30 minutes so we can watch commercial free.
I did read an article that high DVR use is really messing with the ratings systsem and that certain shows that people tend to DVR are losing ratings because of it.
I do think that eventually, television will be a more "in demand" service than strictly scheduled programming. Of course, that will mean more blatent product placement within the programs or they will find other ways to force us to watch the commercials.
