Thread Starter
:nana::nanak i just learned how to knit, but have gotten good at the basics finished a scarf and want to start making soakers and longies for my little man, and then some tiny ones for a new baby.
the problem is i cannot figure out how to follow a pattern, i don't understand any of the lingo. i had to watch the video "how to knit" and pause it at every step until i had it down...
any ideas ladies. alos how do i recycle a sweater into longies i have the most rockin sweater that would make the sweetest pair of longies for my 2 year old.
thanks for the help if anyone even wants to attempt to touch this thread .

A good place to start would be a list of what the common knitting terms and abbreviations mean, like this one. Many knitting magazines or books will also have a list of terms, often near the back.

Then what you need to do is pick a fairly simple pattern, maybe a small hat knit flat or something like that. Ask questions or look up terms if you have trouble.

So for the hat I linked to, K=knit, P=purl, K2=knit two stitches and so on.

Good luck!
