Name for a type of 'seam'?

Hi - In Scandinavia it is very common for pillow cases to have an extra flap of fabric sewn down right-sides together on one side so that when you put the pillow in, you can wrap this extra fabric around the end of the pillow - i have some children's ikea pillow cases that do this.

Does anyone know the name for this type of 'seam'?

I am making some square cushion covers and rather than putting in a zipper, i hoped to incorporate this flap, but need to work out how to do it with the side fabric strip (that isn't included on bed pillows) and thought to look online for a pattern... any ideas or pointers on this?

Thanks so much!

it's an opening, rather than a seam. It's called and envelope opening or envelope back. The way you want to do it, I'd just sew the extra flap to the end of the fabric, and then treat it as one big piece, using your attachment seam as a guide for where to fold the sides in.

It's also called a pillow fold - for obvious reasons! There are tons of tutorials on the net that I'm sure would help.
