Blogging For Dummies

I've started to blog but I'm completely clueless about the whole thing.

First problem I've encountered...what is a "feed"? Apparantly I can set up a "feed" and I'm sort of guessing what it is but that's a waste of time when there are people here who know who can explain it quickly and clearly.

thanks

Allgirls!

Quoted from Wikipedia:
Quote:
A web feed (or news feed) is a data format used for providing users with frequently updated content. Content distributors syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users to subscribe to it. Making a collection of web feeds accessible in one spot is known as aggregation, which is performed by an Internet aggregator.
I use Google Reader for all my feeds, I find it the most user friendly. Using a feed makes browsing your favorite sites easy peasy because they are all listed in one place rather than having to visit each site singularly to see if they have updated.

Hope that helps

PS. If you use Firefox, this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/424 makes adding new feeds easy.

I've found a super blog that has all the basics on there. PM if you'd like the link. I don't know if I can post it here.
