Weekly chit chat February 7th-13th

Thread Starter
I've managed to wake up before all the kids so I figured I'd better start the new weekly thread while I have a moment.

Hope all you mamas still waiting for your babes have them in your arms soon!

last night I had 4-5 really painful contractions and then they went away. I'm getting a little sick of this prelabour stuff. All it is succeeding in doing is frustrating me.
Does nipple stimulation work for everyone. I tried pumping the other night and felt nothing. I tried the finger rolling technique and again nothing.

Josie I'm hoping this is it for you.

Nillarilla, I hear you. It would be easier to be patient and wait if this prelabor stuff weren't going on. For the last few days I've had lots of contractions of various sorts, mostly the menstrual crampy kind, some quite strong, and I've had the loose/frequent stools and lots of CM but no bloody show. I just wonder howl ong can this go on? It gets exhausting after a while.

But I got a chiropractic adjustment this morning so I am kind of wondering if that was what my bosy was waiting for-- maybe I can go into labor now.

I am also wondering if any of the ladies who posted on the "is this a sign of labor" thread are in labor now! Can't wait to hear more baby announcements!

Oh, at the chiro's office, the other chiropractor she shares a practice with was there with her new baby-- born just a couple months ago. The baby girl was SO CUTE!!! Just a little round bundle curled up on her daddy's chest, looking all around with raised eyebrows. I totally melted. Ack, it made me want my baby! I am so excited to be having a little girl this time!

I'm here and PRAYING I DON'T go into labor, 3 outta 5 kiddos are throwing up and have fevers, last night it was 4, but I think Leiah is done now. Thank GOD for Crystal. I don't know what I would have done without her. My poor Luke is the sickest I think.

EDD is tmw though.

Wow, what a night! I"m so sorry. I hope everyone gets good and healthy before baby comes. I hope you don't get it.

I'm still hanging in there. I have lots of contractions, loose bowels, nausea/hb, shakiness, moodiness, but nothing that will bring out a baby. I'm doing EPO at night to soften things up in there.

I hope we have a great weekend with lots of healthy babies born!

I'm hanging in here, too! I have a lot of pelvic pain for some reason.

We had a weird afternoon yesterday, not related to being pregnant. We were driving a few miles from my in laws house to Hobby Lobby. We made a left turn on a green arrow and while we were going around the turn, the person behind us, started honking his horn and freaking out, he drove around us really, really fast. My dh and I laughed about it, figured it was a crazy college student or something. Anyway, up about three hundred feet, he slams on her brakes in the middle of the road and waits for us! Can you believe it! So he starts freaking out on us and how we made him run a red light...by us not going fast enough through the left turn...huh? So I'm thinking, okay crazy person...ignore him. Well we tried, he get behind us and starts running up on us, like to hit us from behind...we have all three kids with us, btw...so I call 911...at this point I have no idea what this person is going to try to do to us...he pull into the Hobby Lobby parking lot, he blocks us in and is screaming at us about how we made him run a red light...the whole time I am on the phone with 911, they are sending six cars, one will be there in 1-2 minutes. So the guy starts to drive off slowly through the parking lot. We lose sight of him about 30 seconds before the police gets there, my dh gets out to talk to the cop and while he is talking, the guy comes back(!) and DH says that's him! The cops drives like 40MPH to block him from running out of the parking lot, then three more cars show up. The guy starts freaking out on the cops about how they should arrest us from making him run a red light. The guy was totally delusional and irrational, it was so scary. I can't believe he came back too! I mean, he was totally stalking us! So the police give him a ticket for harassment and tell the guy that if he follows, waits or in any other way tries to contact us, he will be arrested for felony harassment as well as endangering of a minor x3 because our kids were with us. I was very concerned that he would be able to get our address from our car license plate number...but the police told us it was very hard to get in our State becasue of this very reason. Still, super scary!

ETA: It ended up being a man in his late 50s, early 60s...not a kid at all!
Never a dull moment!

Jesilynne- Wow, hope that bug passes quickly!!!

Bathrobe Goddess-- WOW that sounds scary! Good that the police got there at the right time! Some people are just unbelievable!
BG, that's scary! Yikes. I'm glad the cops came.

JesiLynne, I hope everyone starts feeling better soon.

---

I'm still feeling the same as everyone else, sounds like. Can't get comfortable, backache, loose stools, achy, and moody.

Am baking cookies as a distraction and a just in case, to bribe the nurses with.

But once I'm finished I'm crawling back in bed and watching a movie while mr. nighten watches Guinevere. I'm just exhausted.

Still waiting....not due until Feb 23 or possibly Mar 2. : I don't feel like I'm going to make it nearly that far. My cervix feels so squishy and floppy and the baby is as low as it can be just falling out. I can't feel my cervix well enough to see if it's dilated at all, my hand just doesn't crank around well enough when that big belly is in the way.

We just painted DS's room and are laying bamboo floors in there. We also planed all the previously rough cut cedar door/window trim and baseboard and I need to clearcoat it and the new closet doors today so it's all ready to hang back up. (Hurricane Ike repairs, plus some upgrades.) DH was laying the bamboo all day today, but then got a call-out for a day trip, so he had to run to the airport. That's our life, though...no schedule. I'm just thankful he's home as much as he is!!

We already did the bamboo and trim in our room, but then bought paint for it, so we're hoping to have time to paint if before we have to move all the furniture back in there.

I'm REALLY ready to have this baby, physically and emotionally. I'm SO tired of being pregnant. But, on the other hand, if I have it now, DH will be stuck spending the first week or so finishing our projects alone. So, I'm trying to be patient and not overexert myself.

I'm having LOTS of BH or prodromal labor. I don't know how to tell the difference. I guess I oughta look it up. But, I've got more important things to do....a nap right now, for instance.
My due date is Tuesday but my doctor said to aim for 41 weeks (so the 17th) based on my signs. My cervix is total mush, I'm somewhat effaced and a little bit dilated, and I have lots of cramps and the occasional contraction, and more BH contractions, but no positive signs of labour happening any time soon.

I feel really good overall so it's not like pregnancy is tiring me out, but dang it I want to meet the shrimp already!

For now I'm just filling up my time with crochet projects, dinners with friends & family and window shopping. One of my friends (who's on mat leave right now) has been great in re: to asking me to do small things, like go with her to mom & babe swim lessons, go grocery shopping, playing Wii -- just things to keep me busy and not bemoaning the lack of labour.

Mike is taking at least 6 months of paternity leave so he's ready for the baby to come any time now! But he will be busy at work this week so hopefully that will help the time pass quickly.

I hope all the mamas with positive labour signs have their babies soon! The full moon is supposed to be a good time to give birth.

Having a Meet Coen party tonight, better get cleaning.
Plus, I just heard the telltale diaper rumble.

Anyone know if it's normal to have a little red spot in his eye, right next to his iris??
Still here, still cranky, still trying to act like a human being worthy of the amazing family I have. Still not succeeding.
I'm trying to convince DH to take me out to the country to find some bumpy gravel roads to drive on. He seems to think I'm insane. But I am right now, I guess. All of this weird prelabor stuff is wearing me out.

Wow BG, that's freaky! Glad the PD had a good response time! Stay safe!

: I feel so bad for the big kids. I'm so impatient, cranky. It isn't their fault, they're just acting like normal kids, it's all me.

I just want to go and hide in the bedroom until real labor starts up. But still have to play Girl Scout leader and mom and wife and student and maybe even nurse (if I can get a shift at work, we really need the $, but I really really don't want to work!).

Dooney, is the spot new? Could it just be from pushing him out, like a broken blood vessel? He would have had a lot of squishing, right? (or did you have a c? I'm sorry, I can't keep up with all the new babies!)

We just decided to have a meet the baby party... havn't decided details yet though.

Linus has a red line like that, has had it since the day he was born. It seems to be getting smaller. My midwife never commented and it doesn't seem to bother him, but I'm not sure why it's there.

BG I don't think I could recover from something like that in any short period of time.

I'm mad at DH, he's getting sick. I know that sounds irrational of me, but I have been trying for a long time now to talk to him about taking care of himself and he just hasn't listened. So I am crabby.

I am having the SAME problem today! I am so upset with him for getting sick. Now I am not feeling too hot. I'm already 41wks 3 days so I could go at any time. I don't want to be sick!! Of course the kids will get it too, which will be just great fun. He doesn't take care of himself the way he should and I've been getting onto him about being clean etc. because this is exactly what I didn't want to happen! He just blows me off like I'm a germaphobe...but I have good reason to be right now! Ugh. :

My dh NEEDS to start taking care of himself better. Think of all attachment parenting is about and then go completely opposite. That is how my dh was raised. He has embraced AP wholeheartedly, but he needs to heal himself. He's only 30 but unless something changes in his diet and healing with natural means he is going to be really ill in 5 years

Bathrobe- weird! How bizarre! Sounds like you did the appropriate thing, though!

PastVNE- cool, sounds like good work in the house! How do you like the bamboo?

Dooney- sounds like a broken blood vessel, I think that's normal and will go away. Doesn't hurt to ask at the next appt though.

I agree with everyone- the prodromel/prelabour does really take a toll on you. You think it's going to happen anytime! This time I'm not taking any stock in it- last time with a couple weeks of it I got very frusterated, emotional and cranky. PastVNE- you said something about prodromel vs Braxton Hicks...I've found the info on this to be confusing and not very clear- some texts consider Braxton Hicks to be pre-labour, but I don't agree. I think the difference is that prodromel labour feels like the beginning of labour, but doesn't go anywhere, at least not immediately. I suppose pre-labour and prodromel labour could be the same thing, but I guess in my head I think of prodromel labour as happening weeks before the real thing, and prelabour is the warm up before labour. However, that's not necessarily true. I'd be interested in hearing what others think.

In my experience, I have lots of braxton Hicks contrax, and some can be seriously strong and into my back and pelvis. But when I started prodromel labour I'd get bouts of contrax that were different than BH, but not regular and not progressive. When I finally did go into labour I knew almost immediately that these contrax were different than both the BH and the prodromel. So that's why I don't agree when pre/prodromel labour is stated just as BH.

A surprise shower was thrown for me today!: It was such a nice treat; I totally didn't know it was happening. It's my 3rd baby and I already have a boy and girl, so I don't really need anything. I suspected something special might be going on because my sis-in-law tipped me off, but I could have been wrong and it seemed clear it wasn't today. My mom and girlfriend and I planned to go to an art show opening this afternoon, and on the way my mom said she had to stop at my husbands aunt's, to pick up some insurance papers. I said, 'weird', but didn't think a thing. My mil waved me in to 'see her new table', and I walked in and there were people sitting around and they all yelled, 'surprise!'. Daft, pregnant me, looked at them and the presents and said, 'SURPRISE FOR WHAT?!' Duh!!! I had no idea. Actually, someone said 'a surprise shower for YOU!' and I said, 'right now!?'
I got some new clothes, which is a treat, and some other nice things, including natural laundry soap and stuff. It was nice to be pampered and eat cake.

OH, and I'm sooo sorry for those who have sick families! How awful, I can't imagine dealing with that right now. I'm very thankful we've stayed healthy, but I hope we can hold on for awhile yet- it seems to be going around like crazy. Hang in there mama's!
my mom (who is a doula) had two clients due before me who both gave birth today...i think she and i are relieved that we're 'all clear' until my edd.
