Biotin for Toddler? Hair and nail issues

My 2 yo dd has some hair and nail issues. Her toenails grow extremely strange, they are almost always a step away from being ingrown, I have to push the skin down on the side, she picks at it, etc. They are fragile and thin, flaky.

Her hair is fine and has some damage/breakage and split ends from the hair bands (ouchless, not supposed to pull hair out). I have never cut her hair but am taking her to the salon today and hopefully she will let them cut it. I am just going to give in and get her a bob w/bangs, Suri Cruise style.

I didn't want to cut her hair, but her hair grows straight forward and I've been attempting to keep it back with hair bands, barrettes. She just pulls them out and rips her hair. I can't take it anymore and she has a lot of split ends.

So long story short, can I give her biotin supplement? how much? Once I cut off the damage I'm hoping it will grow back stronger.

Advice???

I would give biotin in a mixed B complex first and see if that helps. Generally you don't want to give a B vitamin alone, especially in a high dose.

Quantum makes a great B complex called Max Stress B nanoplex. It is very expensive but it is live vitamins with nothing extra.

Be aware if you do end up giving higher amounts of biotin to work up very slowly and to give magnesium with it, biotin uses up magnesium..
