Eliza Ruth was born at 4:20 a.m. on Feb 7th - just a few hours shy of her due date! She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz and 21 inches long.
The short version of the birth story

I started having some painful contractions just before midnight on Friday. They kept on pretty steady about 5-8 minutes apart and had some bloody show so I called the midwife at 12:30. Labor was intense and went well. Some back labor but I managed to relax and focus. I pushed her out from a supported squat with my husband and best friend onto the bed. She was born in a caul, the sack was really strong and the midwife had a hard time getting it off of her! My youngest daughter stayed asleep and didn't want to watch but my 12 year old was up for the whole thing and got to cut the cord. I had a few stitches for a tear on the side, but over all I feel pretty good. The afterpains haven't been as bad as I thought they might. I've got two sets of grandparents giving my oldest kids attention and helping out. I've been in bed with the baby pretty much since.
I'm so happy that I finally have a full-term baby! She's awesome - breastfeeding like a champ. She pooped five times in the first 24 hours!
