Strap lengths on a Mei Tai

I want a Mei Tai, and found one on Etsy that I absolutely adore. I'm pretty trim, but DH is a big man and I want him to be able to wear it too. He fits in 2XL or 3XL shirts, will straps this size fit him?

This carrier measurements:

Padded Body: 20" tall and 15" wide

Strap and reverse side of body color: BLACK

Padded Upper Straps : 6" wide and approx. 60" long

Lower straps: 4" wide and approx. 30 inches long.

Those top straps sound pretty short to me. How tall is your dh, and how is he built?

He's about 5'10 or 5'11, so not too tall. He has pretty broad shoulders and chest, but carries all extra weight in his belly.

60 inches is too short. She may be able to make one with longer straps for you, otherwise, I'd find one with longer straps.

Is there any way to lengthen straps on an existing Mei Tai?

Also, I've found that 80 or 82" is ideal, but nobody seems to talk about bottom straps...should they be longer too?

I would not lengthen the straps. I would messure dh around his waist and add i guess no less then 12" for the knot. If you are creative you can follow the path a strap would take in a posision. get yarn or something long. Say start at his right nipple go up and over his shoulder down to his left side (could u a pillow for baby and around adding extra for the knot. Seems crazy but that was how i got the length for the one i made.

wow - those shoulder straps are pretty short. The Kozy straps are 65" and short enough that most men will have to tie under the baby's butt (not be able to bring the straps around to tie). i wouldn't want straps on a MT to be any shorter than that, even for myself, and i'm fairly small. for comparison, the straps on a regular babyhawk are something like 72" (maybe even 74").

I would def. want longer straps for myself -- I wear about a size 14 and I prefer the extra-long top straps on a Babyhawk (around 80" maybe? I can't remember). I don't like the regular straps on a Kozy because they're too short for me.

If you think it's a very well-made and supportive MT, you could always convo the seller and see if she will do a custom for you.
