When to pull out the maternity clothes?

I don't remember when I started wearing them with dd....
I don't think I have gained any weight yet but my belly is already poking out instead of being flat... and even though my jeans fit fine when I sit down I can't stand how they dig into my lower abdomen. Its so uncomfortable. I can't pull out the preggo jeans at 5 weeks can I??? My lower belly is just so sensitive at the moment. Anyone remember when they started wearing maternity stuff?

I pulled mine out yesterday. I'll be 6 wks in a couple days is all but I can not stand the way regular pants feel on me. This is #5 for me and although baby may be the size of an appleseed, uterus is way bigger than that. LOL My fundus is half way to my belly button already.

Oh, man! I hope not for awhile! I just lost 10lbs this past month, and with DS I dropped weight light crazy the first tri, so I hope I can get away with not wearing them for awhile.

I am seriously thinking about pulling mine out, many of the things I won't be able to wear until summer, but I have this beautiful dress that I think I may wear to DH's Grandma's 90th b-day on Sun. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow and I am so uncomfortable. I can wear only a couple of pairs of pants(that fit me until I was 5 months or so last time). I just get big fast, my torso is really short and I have nowhere to go. I have a ton of stretchy gaucho pants from Old Navy that are the best-I just want to be comfy and my pants all seem to hurt me. When I get my tax refund I am buying more of those same pants, and a couple of skirts so I can function.

I've been wearing mine since before I got pregnant... :P Heh, mostly because all my other ones have holes in them. But yes, I already feel like I need them!

I haven't pulled mine out yet because I gave them all away after DS#2 was born! So, I'll need to rebuild the stock. In the meantime I've been living in two pairs of yoga pants. I'm not showing but my stomach is soooo bloated and sore that I can't even think of wearing regular pants right now. I think I'll invest in a pair of leggings this week so I can start wearing skirts, I have a ton of elastic waist skirts that I can use for a while. Have to have the leggings though, it's way too cold here still for just skirts. :

WOW! YES! I was just asking this on a diff thread... Is it possible to feel four months preg and only be 4 1/2 WEEKS?? Yikes!! I have gained 4 pounds in one week. That is craaaaazy! I seriously have to go shopping this week. Going to check out one of those Bella Bands (anyone ever use one?) to see if I can at least not have to buy maternity clothes until I'm in the 2nd trimester.

I have a bella band.. I haven't used it a lot yet though, only a couple times. I think I will use it more as I get bigger.

I am already feeling huge though and my jeans are getting uncomfortable.

I don't like my Bella Band, but I think it's too small for me. So if you get one that doesn't squeeze your belly as much as the pants do, it might work better.

I don't actually have to think about this one. We moved in Nov., and my DH had a major guy-moment, rips a big box open, and then tells me "You need to put away the stuff in X box."

"Why?"
"It's clothes."
"It's maternity clothes. Were you planning to knock me up tonight?"

So then later, we're loaning all our baby stuff to friends who are adopting, and DH wanted to give them that box... Urm, no, not yet. You do not loan a woman who is adopting due to fertility problems things that have maternity clothes mixed in, unless you're trying to cause a ton of hurt feelings.

So all my Mclothes are sitting on top of my son's dresser, waiting for when I can no longer hair-tie my bluejeans

I know I was wearing maternity pants around 14 weeks. I think I bought a couple pairs of larger jeans, too, that I wore until I started with the maternity pants.

Oh, and just so you know, for shirts... Maternity style is IN! LOL I went to Plato's Closet which is all used Jr's clothing and I got 8 shirts for the summer, all normal shirts that are totally the same thing you'd get at a maternity store. And the cool thing is they were all stylish and only like $6 each (not to mention I had a coupon and gift card, lol!)

I'll be in them soon, but probably the yoga pants first. I sold a lot of my maternity stuff because I wasn't sure I was having any more, and figured I'd pick some up off craigslist if needed. I hate hanging onto things if I don't think I'll use them anymore. Too bad because I had some nice things!

Just wanted to add info on the bella band. I had 3 of them last time around, and used them all the time. In general I liked them. I could wear my regular jeans longer, and it just looked like a tank top under my other shirt.

The only thing I didn't like (as I recall) is that I was always checking to make sure my undone zipper wasn't showing. Someone actually told me my zipper was down once, while wearing the band. I guess my jeans had fallen down a bit...I remember hating that....tug, tug, tug.

The other thing I remember is that the bella band is made of a lycra-like material, so you will still be able to see your jean buttons, etc. through the band. This means you have to be careful about what shirts to wear over it. I got used to wearing really long-cut shirts.

As far as maternity clothes go...I am tempted to go out and get them, if only for the sake of excitement! But I think I will wait until they are actually needed. I doubt I will have money to buy many new clothes this time, so I'll wait to be surprised for a little later on (I don't remember what I have out there...should be fun!).

I am only six weeks but my regular pants are fitting me weird and I am so uncomfortable having anything touch my belly (I am WAY more sick than with the first 2)

I have maternity clothes, and I'm sure they'd fit fine, but then people would know I'm pregnant, you know? I am not ready to tell people- probably not until late April- but I'm afraid I can't wait that long to wear the pants.

Such a dilemma!

I went and bought my Bella Band yesterday and once I tried it on, I too foresaw the need to check regularly for a showing zipper. So, thanks for confirming that preggymeaggy. I also bought some stretchy & drawstring pants...I think I'll be set for a little while- I hope! I'm still in disbelief of needing them so soon... geesh.
(which just reminded me, I need to call my MW) Hope you all have a wonderful day!

I pulled them out.... at 5 weeks. ) I just can't deal with my jeans digging into my lower abdomen. I don't really have a belly and I haven't gained any weight.

I can't wait to pull out my maternity clothes - they're nicer than my regular clothes! (Thank you MIL!)

My jeans are already not fitting. I could have just bought new pants the next size up, but I figured that I already have the maternity stuff, so why not? I am 7.5 weeks. I know it is mostly bloat right now.

I'm about 3 weeks pg and my pants are already tight. This is my 4th child and 6th pregnancy. So my uterus is probably remembering what it's suppose to do since my baby is 13 months old right now. I just pulled my maternity clothes out of the garage bin and am washing all the pants, shorts, and skirts right now as we "speak". I'm already leaving the top button unbuttoned and folding it away from my tummy. I have a lot of skin left over from my first child. He weighed 10lbs at birth. You just don't get rid of that much stretched out skin without surgery. Lol! Anyway. Good to meet you guys!
