washing woes...HELP!!

wwyd?

i have been doing laundry at the laundromat since we moved to our new house in nov. i wipe out the machines and the soap dispensers, but it seems that something is on my cds when they leave there that is giving dd a rash...a pretty nasty one too. i have tried cream for yeast which didnt work so its def the dipes. the only way it goes away is when she goes diaper free, wears some form of sposie or just last week i broke down and boiled the whole lot of them....all 12 lobster pots full!!! it took hrs and TONS of water....both the boiling and cooling and then close to an entire day to hang to dry since we have neither a washer or a dryer that is hooked up (and we cant afford the prices we have been quoted right now for the hook ups). the boiling worked and she had no rash all last week. i had about 5 dipes left and washed the rest at the laundromat yesterday on hot with bac-out and hot dry. she wore one last night, and a little redness, but i was confident i was seeing things. Well she wore one this morning for a couple hrs and sure enough, the redness is coming back. AHHHH!!!! after only one washing in the laundromat machines the whole boiling process was completely negated! i expected it to work atleast for maybe 2-3 rounds of buildup, but nope.

the only thing i havent tried is bleach (i have already done the multiple hot washes, different soap, dawn, vinegar, rlr....) does anyone think bleach would work and if so would you all pick bleached cds over sposies? i have a pack of 365 sposies my mom got me this weekend as i was resisting and she thought i was being silly and got them for me just in case. also would i have to do extra rinsing or washing after using the bleach? right now it costs me about $8 a week to wash them, adding another wash would be another $5 which is more $ than the 365 sposies....i dont know what to do?

Can you do a load of your laundry in the machine before your diapers? That way you could use a diaper friendly detergent on your clothes and it would wash/clean the machine before you do your diapers?

The yeast cream - did you use a liner?

Go ahead and use what your mother bought you until the problem is resolved.

If it were me, I would want to do an extra rinse with the bleach... I do agree with the other posters, that it might be helpful to wash some other stuff first, and also that you shouldn't feel bad about using sposies if necessary. I mean, your kid's heath is really the main concern, right?

If you can do the extra rinse, and the bleaching works, I would probably still pick that over sposies, myself (once you run out)... Tough call.

It sounds like it's a residue left in the washing machines. I thought it was funny when I got my FL, it has a Tub Clean button. The manual states to clean your tub with no clothes in it to remove the residue in the washing machine. If LG went to the effort to add a button to decrease problems with their washing machines, what do the mainstream detergents leave on our clothes, if my tub needs cleaning.

I wouldn't kill myself to cd, in your situation. Take care of your LO first. You can start back cding when you get your washer hooked up or use a friends washer for just the dipes.

i usually do that actually....but i think it is in the detergent dispenser. i even wipe both the washer and all three detergent areas and the driers.

the cream didnt leave any residue. plus i havent used it in over a week. so all the dipes have been boiled since using it.

I have similar problems with our shared apartment laundry. It would cost us $8 a week to do cloth diapers with a washer that doesn't wash very well, and a dryer that doesn't dry very well. Not worth it for diapering a toddler, so we are using disposables for now. I would like to go back to cloth when the new baby comes, but I don't think it's going to work unless I wash everything by hand.

But I still use cloth wipes!! I wash them in hot water with the whites once a week, and that works out ok for us.

Can you just dump the detergent right in the machine and skip the dispenser?

i could but it wouldnt matter, since the water runs through the dispenser when it fills up each time.....i think its between the dispenser and the area that holds the clothes where the old soap gunks up and get into my wash and i cant wipe it out since its inside the machine...
