reflexology to induce labor?

ok, let me start by saying that i don't really believe in some of the more grandiose claims of healing made by reflexologists.

i just found out yesterday that my aunt is trained as one and she offered to give me a free treatment tomorrow. i guess the way that i'm looking at it is as an opportunity to basically get a good foot massage

my concern, though, is that i don't want to go messing around with any pressure points that may induce labor. i know that most of the self-induction methods don't work unless the body is ready anyway, but i'm still only 37 weeks, and as much as i'd LOVE to not be pregnant anymore, i want it to be on eden's terms.

so should i forgo the treatment or trust that she's trained well enough to avoid anything potentially harmful?

Not in your DDC but I trained in reflexology and I believe in it's benifits.I did it to my friend to bring on her labor. As soon as I started on the uterine pressure points contractions started. The baby was born the next morning.
Make sure that she stays away from between your ankle bone and achillies tendon. Also going around the ankle bone itself, avoid this.
otherwise enjoy:0)

My MIL owns a holistic health center that does massage, pre/post natal massage, craniosacral, reiki, shiatsu, foot reflexology etc. and if she is a licensed trained foot reflexologist she would/should know the points to avoid If you want to mention it to her just to be safe go ahead but I'ld go ahead with it and enjoy

I would go for it! Just stay away from those points and you should be fine.

If your aunt is trained and offering then she will have experience and knowledge on points to stimulate and not to stimulate. Here's some info on case studies done on Reflexology during pregnancy if you're curious about expected outcomes and how the session may affect your labor, et cetera.

enjoy!
