Quick book recommendation?

So, another book thread...
I've heard several GD titles get mentioned a lot here, and I plan to read a few of them. But I'd like to buy one today. Which one is worth buying, as opposed to borrowing from the library? Which one do you find yourself going back to, over the years? In other words, which offers practical advice for young and older children alike?

Thank yoU!

Ditto! This is a great one to go back to again and again.

Unconditional Parenting, Alfie Kohn
Connection Parenting, Pam Leo

I own many of the books recommended here, and the one I think is definitely an owner versus a renter is "Becoming the Parent You Want to Be". It is pretty thick and I find it more of a reference book versus a chapter to chapter read.

That said I also love "Unconditional Parenting".

I'll second (or third or fourth?) the recommendation for Unconditional Parenting. It's definitely one to buy, as it is so packed with information. I checked it out from the library 2 or 3 times before finally breaking down and just buying it!

Playful Parenting by Lawrence Cohen is also great.

Thanks!!! Keep 'em coming, I haven't bought one yet!

And, if it were between "Unconditional Parenting" and "How to Talk So Your Kids Will Listen and Listen So Your Kids Will Talk" which would you choose?

I would definitely go with UP. It just really gets down to the basic level, and gives you all the reasons, logic, and research to help you develop your philosophy.

My favorite book by the How to talk people is Siblings Without Rivalry--another good one to have on hand.
