Inserts, doublers, etc?? HELP!

I'm needing some inserts for used dipes I bought that didn't come with. What is a fair price for these when buying used? I've learned a LOT about the dipes themselves but know NOTHING about the inserts, doublers, soakers, etc! What does it all mean?!

I'm trying a variety of dipes (bought in singles mostly) and then deciding on a stash. I have BG (AIO), BB's (AIO & OS), HH, Mommy's Touch (OS), RaR's (OS), Baby Kanga (OS) coming. Some come with inserts and some don't. I'm so clueless here as to what inserts to get. TIA mamas!

Cotton Babies (BG) OS inserts do well in just about anything! I am a huge fan. I know a fair number of people that use them in all of their pockets. As far as price. I would say it depends on the insert. I would say 50-75% of the regular price is fair.

The All In One diapers don't need an insert or doubler unless you need more leakage protection. The pockets will need a stash. Microfiber is typical of pockets, but something like hemp is also good for more absorbency - and the hemp/microfiber ones work great because you have quick absorbency and more absorbency. Does that help?

I know it's not a good idea to lay the microfiber inserts in a pocket to where it's touching baby (instead of having to stuff) because of the risk of wicking moisture out of baby's skin but what about other materials like microterry or cotton? Those you could lay in, right?

Anything besides microfiber can go against the skin. I'm a hemp fan because it's so absorbant. A lot of people prefer plain old cotton. Then there are bamboo fans, too! My favorite insert for a pocket dipe is a combo microfiber/hemp... that's what we use at night. so absorbant! I do think 1/2 price is fair for used.

with a pocket dipe you dont have to worry about the material, because you dont lay them in the dipe you slide them in the pocket so the inner layer of the diaper is always protecting your baby from whatever you put in the pocket. that is why ppl use micro fiber. hemp and bamboo are the most absorbant and great for stuffing pockets as well and can also be in an aio or a cover touching your baby's skin. thirsties used to make a hemp/terry insert that was contour shaped and those are still my favs, i dont know if they started making them again. inserts do wear out so i would make sure to really look closely at the photos or buy ones that someone says they were in a large rotation or almost new. either that or just get some new ones - you will use them forever.

^thx! i know with pockets they're made to have the inserts stuffed but if i can i'd like to just lay it in so i don't have to go to the trouble of stuffing.

its way cheaper to get covers if you want to lay them in! i recommend bummis super whisper wraps. i have been a thirsties user for yrs, but got a bsww as a bday gift for dd's 2nd bday a couple weeks ago....I LOVE IT

you dont have to wash a cover everytime either like you do a pocket diaper as it doesnt have that inner cloth layer....saves some laundry time
