church registration form

I am going to visit a new church on Sunday and went ahead and picked up the forms today to register the kids for their classes. On the form there is a medical release that basically states that a representative of the church is authorized to give medical tretment if I can not be found. My only worry is that they would not be able to find me and would vaccinate my child for tetnaus or whatever if taken to the emergency room. I know that is a long shot, don't get me wrong. However, should I write in, no vaccines please? What would you do or have you done before in these cases?

Could you write in that immediate life-saving and pain relieving treatment can be given, but all other treatment, including all injections, must have your direct consent?

I agree with above poster. I have heard stories of this happening at school without parental consent. I don't think you can ever be too sure....long shot or not.

Thank you. I hate to feel like I am being paranoid, but you just never know. I have actually written in my will that my kids never be vaccinated until they turn 18 if that is a choice they make for themselves. As much as I love the people that would get my kids if something happened to us, you just never know what they would choose to do. YKWIM?

Many hospitals/doctors will justify tetanus vaccine as "immediate life-saving treatment".

I might include a copy of your state's religious exemption to vaccines. Or, you can just hang around during RE classes like I do, that way you're always there.

I specifically write ABSOLUTELY NO VACCINES on those forms.

Wouldn't you be in church/Sunday School while the kids are in their classes? Why would they not be able to find you? I've never had to give any church permission to authorize medical treatments--of course my kids aren't yet old enough to go somewhere without me or DH.

That's why I'm thinking it would be a long shot. I will be righ there if they need me. I mean I would imagine if nothing else, I would be right at the hospital when my child gets there. However, you just never know.

Tell them your child has allergies to milk, eggs and there fore cannot be vaccinated. Many vaccines are cultured on eggs.

You should sign this in the very remote chance that something happens to your dear child.
