I found the most beautiful cashmere/silk cardigan in the local Sally Ann's last week for 50p, and it's my size- but has a wide rib round the bottom that isn't flattering at all on me (it's right in the middle of my mummy tummy). I was planning on just taking a pair of scissors to it and stitching the bottom, but then I took a closer look at the construction- they've knitted the fronts and back flat, seamed, and then knitted the ribbing on to that, and then the button bands on to THAT- so theoretically, I could frog it back a little way.
I don't have any needles smaller than a 2mm, though, which is probably still too big to match the original gauge. If I went straight to a picot bind-off, would it look really bad?
