help please!

Hi, really need some help/support. My 2 month old DD has been having blood in her stools and green mucusy poops. She has never had normal poops and they have gotten worse. I have been trying to cut out dairy and I still have not made it a single week with out dairy. I think I have it down now. I'm going to try to stick with nondairy kosher foods and use kosher labeling. That seems the safest. So anyway if it is just a dairy allergy how long will it take to see results? The blood in her stools really worries me. She seems fine in every other aspect, except she does have pretty bad skin. Very dry, lots of newborn rashes. When she gets the really bad green poops it gives her a horrible diaper rash. The Pedi is pushing for formula but for a variety of reason I don't want to go that route unlessI absolutly have to. I really just need help figuring out what she is allergic to so I can stop eating it . Any and all advice welcome.

You may want to do an Total Elimination Diet for awhile and then start adding things back in. Dairy is a common allergen but it may not be what your child is allergic to. I know that some of the things on the list are expensive/hard to find but maybe you could try more of veggie and fruit diet to check if that works.

I hope other moms on here canbe more helpful. I know its hard to let go of your favorite food but its worth it. I nursed my allergy baby for over a year with no traces of milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish or shell fish and I did it on a small budget. Hang in there!

We've all learned (repeatedly) that there was something bad in a food we thought was safe, it really does get easier over time. The learning curve at the beginning is really, really steep.

I don't know how to decide whether to cut out 1 or 2 more allergens, cut out all top 8 (dairy, gluten (technically just wheat, but I vote for all gluten, it's not that much more on a practical level), eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, what am I missing? fish?), or when it's time to do a TED and have a list of foods you _can_ eat. Though as I wrote that, many kids seem to react to both dairy and soy, so that's something to consider.

I'd eliminate one thing at a time. Start with dairy. It can take 6-8 weeks to see improvement. Yes, that's a long time, but worth it. If you don't see improvement after 8 weeks then I'd take out wheat/gluten next. Then corn, soy perhaps eggs - whatever your intuition tells you.

Good luck. Finding allergens is a long road. I pored over food logs for way too long and did elimination diets the wrong way before I really listened to my intuition and acted on it. And that's when our healing began. :

Is it dangerous for her to have these bloody stools that long? I just don't know what to do. I was thinking of giving dairy a week or two then doing soy and eggs together. Can brown rice be an allergen? I thought rice was always safe but I had it for dinner last night and she def seemed worse last night and this morning (we are back to blood again ). I should add we do have an appt with a GI sched. I was told by the GI before that gluten will not pass through breast milk something about the protiens??? I can't remember it was afew yrs ago when we were having some issues with my son. His issues started with solids though. He did not have these bloody stools like maya has.

Yeah I was told the same thing about gluten, it's a load of crap.

I would go one of two ways, cut out one thing every two weeks VERY strictly, or if you really want to get tot he bottom of things quicker, try either the top 8 all at once, or a TED. It can take a while, esp for dairy, to get out of your system. You might also want to check the gut healing sticky for measures you can be taking to heal your own gut.
