1st Ultrasound

So, I have my first u/s in a little over an hour and I am freaking out!! My husband isn't able to go with me which isn't really helping me at all. With my first 2 pregnancies, it was the first u/s that showed problems. With the first, it showed twin sacs, but with no fetal development and the sacs weren't shaped right. The second one a week later confirmed miscarriage. With the second pregnancy, my first u/s confirmed an ectopic. I know that there's nothing that I can do about the results right now, because whatever they find they find, but it's just been so hard to get connected to this pregnancy because I don't want to get hurt again. I guess this is just kind of a little rant to get my negative feelings out, because negativity and stress don't really help with a pregnancy. Wish me luck that everything turns out alright!

I am sorry that you have to go alone to your u/s , and I am sorry to hear that they have been so difficult for you in the past. I hope that you have your best u/s yet, today, and that you get to see your wonderful and healthy baby for the first time. I will say a prayer for you as you are there, so know that someone is thinking about you and wishing you only good things. Please let us know how it turns out when you get finished.

thomatuttle I completely understand! I have had two miscarriages and the most recent was in December. I have had two bouts of very light spotting with this pregnancy and I'm thinking of going in and having an early u/s even though it is not like me. I understand wanting to know that everything is alright in there.

Good luck today! I have my :for youtoday. Let us know what happens!

I understand your anxiety Thomatuttle. I conceived last summer but after genetic testing, found the baby had a severe chromosome problem and had to end the pregnancy. It was devastating. I'm about 5 weeks along now and keep vacillating between fear and happiness. Last time, I felt such a strong connection to the baby, when I had to end the pregnancy, I was beyond heartbroken. Fear of another loss is keeping me from connecting to this pregnancy. I really feel like I need proof that everything is ok before I let myself connect again but at the same time I'm anxious about the tests that will give me answers. I want to know but I'm afraid to find out.

I just pray your ultrasound goes well and your little one(s) are doing fine. Best wishes and best of luck!

So, I went to my u/s and everything turned out well!! I was so nervous my hands were shaking and I brought a book with me to read, since I got there early, but I couldn't even open it. My doc figured out my EDD using my ovulation date, since my periods are all wacky, and he puts it at 10/5/09, which is basically what I had figured (10/4). He then did a trans-vaginal u/s and I got to see my baby!!! : I would post a pic, but I don't know how to do it. Anybody know how to do it? I also got to see the heartbeat which I was really worried about. It was there!!! He did a count and it was 114, which he said is about right for 6 weeks. He said it should be more normal (~180) at the next visit. So yeah, nothing really to worry about!! He also said that once the heartbeat is visible, the risk for miscarriage goes from about 20-25% to 10-12% so that really helps with the stress. I even called my parents and told them, which was really difficult because they were at work and I asked them not to tell anyone. My dad choked up which was really sweet.

Yeah!!!:::: I'm so excited for you!! I'm sure it was such a relief to see that little heart beating! I can't wait to get to that point. That is so good to hear how much the risk of m/c drops after you see a heartbeat! Thanks for sharing and good luck to you!!!
