I use this website to help me pick the names of my babies. This helps me ensure my kids' names are not in the top 100! The new list for 2008 comes out around Mother's Day.

I have a girlfriend who had been wanting to name her daughter Esme from when she was in highschool, and she finally named her last baby Esme, which had nothing to do with the Twilight series. She also has a daughter named Eowyn

I might have some brilliant suggestions for you if I wasn't battling an allergy attack!

Ezra Taft Benson, who came before Howard W. Hunter, then Gordon B. Hinkley. Love the name Ezra!

I've been LDS my whole life and I didn't know there was another spelling for Hyrum. If you use another spelling of Hyrum, all his take-home papers will be spelled from from Nursery through CTR5 or 6 when he can correct the teacher on how to spell his name, so sticking with the "traditional LDS spelling" is a good idea from that standpoint.

Lizzy~ DH loves the name Ezra. It has been in the running since baby3. But I really just don't feel it if that makes sense. Though Hyrum and Ezra are nice together... I like the nickname Ezrie.

That makes sense.. there are lots of names that I like that I don't "feel" So far the only boy name I've really felt with this baby is Oliver (regardless of it's gain in popularity).

I was reading my philosophy (text) book and a name popped into my head: Noble. I knew a man with that name, and have always liked it.

Well, he just looked like a baby... so I was at a loss. So DH, being impatient with calling him "baby", named him.

Ok, so you're opening the field to Star Trek names, too? Dh and I are going to have some fun brainstorming from that.

Most of the boy names I like start with L or M, unfortunately.

I always wanted to use the name Peregrine (from the falcon, means 'traveler' or pilgrim) AND very LOTR, although Pippin's full name is spelled differently. Perry for a nickname.

I love Sol/Solomon. And Ezra. Also Zebediah/Zebedee, but I like Zephram more.

I think the LOTR name I like most purely for the sound of it is Theoden. How about Theo? Someone else suggested Theodore.

How about Farley Faramir?

Also, if you have two boys, you MUST name them Meriadoc and Peregrin. Cuz I say so

If I wanted to do a Tolkein name, honestly I'd pick Tom. Tom Bombadil is the character I would most like my kid named after, even though I'm not a fan of the name Tom.

It's mainly happened at doctors and hospital visits. They look at the name and really slowly say "Lily-ith" or "Maw-bowl" which is just add to me because the names are spelled so obvious.

Oh my I Eowyn!!! We're expecting #3 and I'm trying to get DP to agree to it but I don't think it'll happen.

Anyway, to the OP, I just wanted to say that I really love your name choices and I don't think you're being picky, you're being consistent and picking what works for your family. I know if my three older siblings had names like yours do and then I was born and was just "Joe Plain" I'd be bummed.

FWIW, I love Hyrum. I love the idea of being named after a great person, and I like the way the name sounds and looks. And of course, I love all the Tolkien names, though the only H name I can think of is Hasufel, the horse. I want to use the name Eowyn (I should have been Eowyn) but that's after Lenore and Ariadne, in other words, probably won't happen.

yeah, as an Elizabeth, I always wished I had a more unique name too.. I even thought about changing it.. but I don't know that I've met anyone who loves their name completely!

I talked DH down nicely from Zefram, thank goodness.

We can agree on Aengus. The only problem is we only like it spelled with the 'e' but the proper Irish/Gaelic pronunciation is een-gus and we prefer angus. Then again who in this part of the world is really going to look at that and say "een-gus" even if that is what we wanted?

So right now it's kind of looking like our picks could be Hyrum/Aengus and Clementine/Tessa though we are not 100% on our second choices.
