What does that mean to you? My understaning of dairy is, it is what comes out of a cows utters. However whenever I say I have a dairy allergy, people assume eggs also. So, in your opinions is dairy, just from cow or eggs also?

I understand dairy to mean what comes from a cow and have never really understood why people lump eggs under dairy as well.

I don't get the egg connection either. I said dairy intolerance to the bread person at Whole Foods, and she said oh sorry this one has eggs. But that one is okay, because it only has butter. WHAT?!?! Maybe it goes back to dairy farms which kept cows and chickens so when you made a dairy order, you got milk and eggs? That's my theory. Or something like that.

I think it's because eggs are usually in the dairy section of the store and people therefore associate them with milk.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the crazy one. Not crazy, but uninformed.

When my DD had an allergic reaction to cow's milk our ped said to avoid eggs as well because those allergic to one are often allergic to the other. She did test positive to both milk and eggs when we finally got in to see the allergist.

My boys have dairy allergies and I've heard a few times the egg thing. Makes no sense to me.

The only thing that makes sense to me as well is that they're both in the "dairy" section of grocery stores- and perhaps, as a PP suggested, that historically dairy farms also provided eggs.

The ND that did some food sensitivity testing on my little one said to avoid beef as well since dairy came out so strong. That my ds could be sensitive to the whole animal. That was new info. to me.

We are the same way. We can tolerate more beef than dairy, but we don't usually consume it unless we have gone to someones house that has made us food with beef. Man, having food allergies is a pain. You miss out on so much. I have had my fil get mad at me because I asked him to use soy milk, ( that we bought) instead of regualr cows milk to make pancakes. Then you have all the people out there that think it's total nonsense and if you would just eat it anyway, you build an intolerance to it and could then eat it. Of course, they have never been up all night long with a two year old screaming in pain, or dealing with feeling sick themselves for days. It's just not worth it.
