Do you wash anything else in your diaper load?

When we started cloth diapering I'd toss in a towel or whatever if it got peed on or something, or sleepers if they got dirty during a diaper change. I'm militant about only running full loads of laundry though. And eventually, I started washing sheets, towels and diapers together. I was running a long hot wash anyway, and there was room to sanitize the sheets and towels.

I'm just wondering if others are particular about washing diapers alone, or if they add other things to the load.

Any thoughts?

I add soiled changing table covers, peepee pads, wipes, & burp cloths to diaper loads.

I'll add one or two things if they are soiled, usually it might be a changing table cover or onesie or something. But I find my diapers clean the best when there is extra water swishing around them, so I don't like to fill the load too full. Our washer drum is small, so even waiting 3 days to wash dipes overloads the machine a little and I feel like they don't get as clean as I want. If everything is getting clean, I think it's fine!

I only wash wipes and wetbags in the diaper load. I have a FL, and if I fill it too much I know the diapers won't get cleaned well.

I don't like to have a "full load" when I'm washing diapers, because I find they don't get clean enough. They need room to move around in the water in the machine. But I think it's okay to add anything to the diaper wash, as long as you're happy with how clean stuff is getting. Around here, anything soiled with pee or poo goes into the diaper wash, unless it'll be damaged by hot water. With potty learners in the house, that means I'm regularly washing undies, pants, pjs, sheets, and towels with my diapers, and it's fine. But I do keep the loads small.

My DH is squeamish about food and diapers, so I keep our "kitchen" laundry, like napkins, dish towels and dishcloths, and tablecloths, separated from the diaper wash. He acknowledges that it's irrational, because clean is clean, but it just bugs him so I humor him! The same with bath towels.

For Sanitary reason I will only wash diapers and anything related to diapering. Wet bags, changing pads etc.. Maybe his pants or shirt if he leaked on them.

Yeah on the FL thing.

I put some burp cloths/all-purpose-flats in with the diapers sometimes, or soiled clothes, or a few towels, but often i do just the dipes (and wipes and wetbag).

Once, i really filled up the machine with a bunch of towels and stuff (and the diapers) and they really didn't get clean! And everything smelled weird

Usually I just wash diapers with diapers (plus wetbags, changing table covers, etc) but occasionally if I need to do a few diapers I'll throw other stuff in (sheets, towels, etc). I agree things get cleaner with extra water in there.

I was just thinking about asking this question! I wash diapers with other things, just making sure the things I put in with the diapers can handle being potentially snagged by velcro. I prefer to wash just diapers because the hanging and the putting away is just easier if the loads aren't mixed up. Plus I don't always put away clean laundry immediately, and I don't like digging for diapers! I agree that it's good to have some extra water swishing around.

See, I actually figured that nothing gets cleaner than in the diaper load. Between the borax, the water being nearly 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and all the extra rinsing, surely to God everything is dead and gone after two and a half hours in the washing machine.

I've never had trouble with my diapers coming clean though. It'd never actually heard about build up and stripping diapers until I started reading in here.

I just wash diapers(wet bags and cloth wipes) in the diaper load. I will wash covers in the regular wash though if needed. I use the same soap for everything just the amount of rinses is different.

only soiled items in with diapers here.
