Prevnar at 15 months

Can someone point me to where it states that children receiving the first dose of prevnar at/after 15 months only need one dose?
I am considering giving this one to DD before she starts pre-school/day care (at 18 months), but would love to skip some doses. I checked the cdc catchup schedule and it seems that they recommend only one dose after 24m and 2 doses after 12 months.
Thanks

Yeah, it looks like Hib is the one where you they only recommend one dose if the first happens after 15 months.

Does anyone know why it is less doses later on? I too am considering Hib and prevnar, mildly considering, but still. My children are 2 and 4 and previously unvaccinated. Is it a larger dose? Do they need less because they've been exposed more. I'm just trying to understand the "science."

Yep. It's because they've already been exposed and are already "mostly" immune. (although I'd guess that it's not necessarily true any more for Hib since there's not much of it floating around any more. But either way, just one dose is highly effective against Hib, so it doesn't really matter as far as the recommendations go.)
