sweater soaker questions

OK,s o I got some old sweaters from a thrift store. They're actually in pretty good shape though, so they havent felted naturally at all. Should I make soakers from the sweaters as they are now, or should I felt them a bit first?

Also, I tried lanolizing the one I already made (unfelted) and it came otu sticky. What did I do wrong?

OK, and one more - do I need to go online for lanolin or is there anywhere local I can get it? I used lansinoh for the one I did and I'm wondering if I can get a bar or some liquid somewhere?

Run them through a wash and dry cycle with a load of regular laundry, and they should felt perfectly. Actually, you might want to wash 2x to "strip" them a little.

The lanolized sticky one is just over-lanolized. No big deal, I always over-do them at first, makes it more waterproof and will dig down in the fibers or disperse betteras time goes on. If it really bugs you, you can wash it with a little soap to strip some out, but I personally wouldn't. (I use Lansinoh, too)

There is some spray lanolin and lanolin soap if you scroll down here-- I haven't used it, but they are a good company.

Thanks! Yeah I thought maybe I'd overdone it on the lanolin, lol. It's actually better even just after lettign it sit for a few days. Besides, it leaves baby's skin nice and soft, lol. I'll try washing the sweaters for the next round - they'd be easier to sew if they'd felt a bit!
