Clara Joy has arrived!

Our sweet baby girl, Clara Joy, arrived Sunday morning at 7:33 after 41 1/2 hours of labor, hospital transfer, and complete change of venue. It was hard, traumatic, and needs more time to process, but I'm so blessed and thankful that our adorable daughter is strong, healthy, vibrant, and amazingly beautiful.

She was 8 lbs, 10 oz, and despite some old meconium in the waters (which broke at hour 9 of labor), her heart tones remained strong. She stayed actively involved in the labor and delivery, despite pitocin augmentation and an epidural for the last 4 hours. I guess I'm almost writing my birth story in code, so I'll stop now and wait until I can post more details.

Thank you for being with me on this journey. Many of you came to mind as I went through some of the darker times of my labor. I am so thankful for your support and connection and look forward to sharing pictures and more details soon.

You are welcome to go to our blog for a few pictures and specifics: www.inwhitefields.blogspot.com

Here is the birth story!

Oh - the name Clara was SOOO close to the top of our list! We're going for a family name instead . . . but it's a beautiful name, and I'm sure a beautiful baby! Congrats!

Had to add - 41 hours of labor! When I first read that, I thought it said 4 1/2, and I thought, oh, that was fast . . . .

My first child was 32 hours of labor, my second was only 2 hours. So if you ever have a second, don't be too fearful of the same long ordeal!
