Why is "natural flavoring" in butter?

I got some local unsalted butter, and it says cream and natural flavoring for the ingredients. Why the nf?

yikes. you would THINK it wouldn't need it.

i think some people are just used to the chemicals and think things taste bland w/o.

So I just got off the phone from the company, and they said that the natural flavoring is a natural preservative because salt isn't used. The natural flavoring they use is lactic acid from their buttermilk. Now off to google...
