Re-sizing a pattern...how hard??

I have a dress pattern from Kwik Sew (2708). It is for sizes 4-7. I will be making several of the the short sleeve version for DD#1 (4) for summer. I would love to make them for DD#2 (she will be 2 in the summer). I have never re-sized a pattern before. This is my second Kwik Sew pattern. I also have one of their nightgown patterns for sizes 1-4. Is there a way that I could use the nightgown pattern to give me an idea of how to re-size the dress pattern? The pattern has very few pieces just bodices, skirts, sleeves, neckband, and pocket. Can I do this??

Thanks in advance for any direction.

I'm sure you can do it!
Use the nightgown pattern and see just how much smaller the 2 bodice is than the 4 of the dress pattern... in the littler sizes, often there is not too much difference.

Are you using woven fabric or knit for the summer dresses?

Can you get some cheap muslin or old sheets to 'practice' with? I think I'd try to alter the pattern a bit, cut one from an old sheet, then just baste it together. Try it on dd and mark on it with a marker/pencil where you need to make changes. Take out the bastes seams, alter pieces, baste again for a 'final' fitting... once you have one you like, use that dress as your pattern.

You can do it!

Thanks for the confidence you have in me MamaGlow

I will be using knit fabric, which is a challenge in and of itself as I have never worked with a knit.
