My three-month-old wriggled out of the Moby wrap today

I was wearing him in a front carry (he won't tolerate the cradle carry in the Moby, only in pouch slings) and my arms were full of grocery bags and a coffee when all of the sudden I felt him slide down my chest! I was able to catch him easily and put him back in the wrap for the walk home, but yikes.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I must have put him in incorrectly but I keep going over it in my head and I can't figure out where I went wrong. :

Things like this has happened to even expert wrappers, so don't beat yourself over it too much.

What position was he in the Moby? Was the wrap over his back? And was it wrapped tightly on? And also...how old is your little one?

It says in the title he's 3mo.

I don't think that would have happened if his legs were out, so was he froggy legged inside the wrap? In which case I would probably check the tightness. What carry were you using? PWCC?

Hi, thanks for the replies!

His legs were out and through the little "holsters" that the wrap makes when you cross it over your chest. When I put him in I did the first leg on the inner holster and spread the fabric over his back and bottom, and did the other leg the same way in the opposite holster. I'm wondering now if I accidentally spread the fabric TOO much and made the "seat" too loose.

I don't know what PWCC is--I had him tummy to tummy with me and upright, with the logo tag part that goes around your waist pulled over his back and up to his neck for a little head support. He usually loves to be in that position and will sleep happily while I run my errands. Today he was a bit fussy which makes me think I was doing something differently, but I still can't figure out what.

PWCC is pocket wrap cross carry, but it's basically the same carry that Moby has in their instructions for all of their front carries. Sounds like that's what you were doing and really just like you said, sounds like you had it on just right. Something to look for is that he is "sitting" in that pocket that is created when you spread the fabric over his bum and body. Once he is in there, just kind of lift his feet up a little so that he ends up sitting into the pocket. His knees should be higher than his bum. But, yeah, it sounds like you were doing everything right and it was just one of those things that can sometimes (through rarely) happen. If he starts to be a wiggler more often though, I think it's then time to move on to a more supportive wrap, such as a woven wrap.

Okay, well it's a relief to know that it happens and I'm not losing my mind!

I JUST got this wrap for Christmas and would hate to have to give it up so soon, but if he continues to be such a good little escape artist I guess I'll have no choice. Is there a way for me to donate used wraps/slings to mamas in need, do you know?

Thanks again.

When you wrap him, does it look like this: http://www.mobywrap.com/images/uploa...n5months_5.jpg

Or like this: http://www.mobywrap.com/images/uploa...n5months_7.jpg

If it's the first, I'd recommend adding that extra support "safety belt" as shown in the second photo

You might also consider moving to a woven wrap - the stretch in a Moby makes it easier for a babe to wiggle out of.

Hi, nigellas--

Yeah, it looks like the second picture if I'm not frog-legging him in there. I don't feel comfortable leaving the middle panel down.
