allergy doctor appointment

Ok so my dd has excema. She has had it for 2 years now we had taken her to a chiropractor and identified that she had some dairy allergies through muscle testing. We took her off of it for awhile and she seemed much better. Well we had started giving her dairy again last summer and by this winter she has gotten awful with it again. I had tried taking her off of dairy and several other things and it didn't seem to be helping. So we took her to the allergy doctor today for a scratch test and she tested negative to all food allergies and positive to environmental stuff like mold, dust, cockroaches, trees, dogs, and cats. Is it possible that she grew out of her dairy allergy or that these tests were possibly wrong. It would be wonderful if she has no food allergies but I am somewhat skeptical. And he wants to put her on Zyrtec and gave her the steroid creme. I think it would be ok to put her on zyrtec for a little bit but I really don't think giving her the steroid creme is a good idea. Any advice or what you guys think would be appreciated. Oh BTW when I told him we don't immunize because of the high rate of autism he told me that was BS. Seems to me they get pretty heated about that subject I wonder why :!!!!

Conventional allergy testing will only show IgE, or "true" allergies. It will not show food delayed-reaction allergies/intolerances.

I think that before giving her medications, I would try an elimination diet and food journal to see if there are in fact still foods that are bothering her. If there are, taking them out would even help her body deal with environmental allergies better.

muscle testing shows intolerance, not allergy, no?
skin testing shows allergy, not intolerance.
So to have positive for intolerance and negative for allergy just says she's got an intolerance and not an allergy. It should still be avoided.
Now, if she have environmental allergies too, and is drinking milk which she's intolerant to, then her allergy load might be too much. When I got my kids off all of their food intolerances, they didn't react to their environmental allergies (ragweed, mold) because their allergy load was more tolerable.
And if she was off dairy before and improved, try it again.

I agree it sounds like her dairy issue is more likely an intolerance than a true allergy and SPT won't find that.

Also, before giving her the Zyrtec (which is for allergies, not intolerances) google "Zyrtec and pediatric" just to inform yourself and make your own decision.

Thanks so much. That really makes sense. What would you recommend doing instead of zyrtec? My husband has really bad allergies and he claims nothing natural helps. we have tried honey, herbs, homeopathic stuff for him and he doesn't seem to have responded to any of that.

You know all these threads on detoxification? My environmental allergies are clearly related to detoxification problems, so you may want to hang out a bit on those threads.
