Pee Lady?

I have a friend living in the Netherlands. She's pregnant, and mentioned that they have her collecting her urine. It's collected and the hCG is extracted from it and used for something. Can somebody explain this to me? Can't they make synthetic hCG?

The Mothers for Mothers (moedersvoormoeders.nl) foundation extracts the hCG, which is used to make a fertility treatment (Pregnyl) which can help women with certain types of infertility (e.g. insufficient follicle maturation, luteal phase problems) get pregnant successfully.

That's all I know about it.

I did this, too. I believe that it's a hormone that they can't synthesize, so other prescription variants of it are from animal urine. Horses, I want to say, but I could be off.

You collect as much pee as possible from 6 weeks until 16 weeks, if memory serves.
