Best back carrier for a 15 month old

Hi All,

I have a heafty 15 month old. I own a maya wrap sling and punch, as well as some other random carriers. She now has decided she hates being on my side and loves being on my back. The only back carrier I have is a huge backpacking contraption we hike with.

Are there any back carriers that are soft and comfy that can hold a toddler?

Thanks!

Yep, there are soft structured carriers, mei tais and wraps that you can use to get her on your back.

Some good brands to get your started in your search are:

Soft structured carriers - Ergo, Calyx, Beco
Mei tais - Babyhawk, My Blessed Baby, Kozy, Freehand, Cat Bird Baby
Wraps - (I'd go for short wraps at this point since you'd be doing mostly back carries) Neobulle, Didymos, Girasol, BBslen, Hoppediz, Storch, Lana

I used a mei tai a lot at that age, but I also had that from when she was younger. Since your child is 15 months and you're thinking about getting a new carrier, I'm guessing you want to babywear for a while. For me, wraps have been the most comfortable for an older toddler. I like my merry carry; I also like longer wraps because I like to do a double cross back carry. YMMV.

At 15 months, even to now, I'm loving a good supportive mei tai or soft structured carrier.

I highly recommend a Two Mommas Designs buckle tai. They are custom made and VERY affordable. www.twomommasdesigns.com

I haven't tried too many different kinds, but we love our Ergo for DS.

Another Ergo lover here. Its not too hard to get the hang of getting the baby onto your back either. Love it!
