Keystone vs Oak Meadow vs traditional - in Boston area

Hi there,

I'm in Westford, MA and looking at Keystone Montessori (N. Chelmsford, MA) vs Oak Meadow (Littleton, MA) Montessori (and traditional play to learn) for my 2 year old. I was wondering if anyone has done the comparison and what they thought about them.

I would love BTDT experience from parents who have their kids at these schools. What they thought about them. What did you like? Why would you recommend my kid to be sent there? What didn't you like?

Thanks so much for your help. We need to make a decision by this weekend.

Hi there,

A few questions if you don't mind...

Is it possible for me to talk to your friend (she can contact me for comfort) about the timeouts and what else she is unhappy about? I've been slightly leaning towards Oak Meadow but that makes me very distressed about it.

In terms of Keystone, how do they incorporate science and arts into their curriculum? Some feel Montessori in general doesn't focus on a fully rounded out education - specifically art and science. But of course all programs are free to add those if they want. Since you are there I thought I'd ask.

Also, I noticed the turnover rate at Keystone is high. So it surprises me that your children has the same teacher for 3 years and that's great.

What is the parent involvement and excitement at school there? At Oak Meadow there seems to be a lot and a lot of the parents are friends and have playgroups and come into school and do special projects etc.

I'm not familiar with either one, since I don't live near there. (I'm in Taiwan), but there's a great sticky thread on what to look for in a Montessori school. You might want to take a look through that since there is a LOT of great advice.

Thanks. I took a look at it a bit ago but worth a refresh.
