Does anyone know the general cost of the dental work my child will have to undergo? I've read many threads where other mother's children are in the same boat....but have no clue on costs. I have been informed there may be extractions involved! Really would appreciate help!!!
Thanks......

Check out several dentists first. I made the mistake of going to the first one recommended to me. I didn't consider my DS at all. He was 18 months old at the time. He took an aversion to the man, and instead of this guy taking the time [a few minutes at least to calm his fears] he aggravated them by talking about the extractions, the fillings, root canals...etc..
My little boy would not open his mouth, and when he did was to scream. They ended up strapping him down, and I didn't know what to do. When the dentist finished his exam he had my little boy scheduled for major surgery to the tune of $3400.
I was beside myself, trying to calm my son and quaking with anxiety over the cost [I'm a single mom, I don't get any support from my x - he was abusive to me and our child]; then my mom called them up and canceled the appointment.
The second dentist we took him to was gentler and had more success.
Both of them were pediatric dentists; but the dentist we go to now is a general dentist for the whole family. He's had more success then either of the other two. And with the use of Xylitol and homeopathic cell salts for bone and teeth strengthening, all of my son's cavities have remineralized or have stopped. He has only one tooth [what is left of it] that needs care and that is the one whose root he broke bouncing around almost a year ago. My mom says it needs to be pulled.
But I think you need to shop around, visit them. This last dentist told us to bring DS in to meet him and his staff, they showed him in the back, told him about the instruments. And DS talked about it for weeks afterwards; he was comfortable. Anyway, he went from the $3400 down to, I think, it's $150 for x-ray and extraction. I'm not really positive, but I'll find out this coming Tuesday. I'll let you know.
