Dollhouse

Thread Starter
As much as I wanted to get excited about a new Joss Whedon show I was so disappointed about what Fox did with Firefly I was afraid to get attached. However, I've heard two interviews with Joss on NPR this week and he's so darn articulate that I'm likely going to watch.
(Both interviews linked here.)

Anyone else interested in Dollhouse? What do you think of the premise?

No clue what I'm talking about?
The Wikipedia has a basic description of the show.

I'm very interested. I already programmed the DVR to record the series. I'm not thrilled with the premise, but I trust Joss Whedon to make it rock. I'm also concerned about Fox, and haven't forgiven them for Firefly.

I love Joss Whedon but his casting of Eliza Dushku is kind of killing it for me. She just can't act, IMO.

If it's Joss, I'll watch. I learned my lesson before-- the premise, the actors, anything-- it doesn't matter as long as it's Joss! It's going to be awesome!

I'm sure it'll be killed off. I'll take what I can get as long as I can, and enjoy it.

And how much am I loving the ad with a picture of Adam Baldwin in his pompom hat from Firefly?

Yes to all of the above. I'll watch, as I believe the sun rises and sets on JW, but it being on FOX, I give it 5 eps tops. Just like Drive and Firefly.

I am also going to check out Nathan Fillion's new show, "Castle" on ABC. Hopefully it will stay a little longer than his previous 2 shows.

I love me some Nathan!!! ::::

It's got me curious.. I'll be recording it for sure tonight.

So? What did everyone think?

I didn't like it as much as Dr. Horrible or Buffy or Firefly... I'm not sure I'll keep watching it. (We don't have tv, so I have to go to my parents house to watch it!)

Oh, we TiVoed it, but haven't watched it yet. My first thought was why in the heck did Joss Whedon agree to do something for Fox yet again! Fox Friday Night shows NEVER last. Well, I haven't watched one since Firefly because I got so sick of Fox cancelling stuff, and if I had realized this was a Friday night show, I might not have recorded it.

Looks work-able to me. Not -this is doomed from day 1- like Drive

I thought Eliza was MUCH better in this than I've seen her before...

waiting for more...

Eh, this show is workable. It didn't have as much oomph as I was hoping for a premiere episode.

I loved seeing Amy Acker on it though and am excited for Adam Baldwin.

I'm hoping to watch in here in a bit..

It was okay. Has potential, so I'm sticking with it for now.

I still get giddy when I hear the "Grrrr.. Arg" at the end of Whedon's shows... Yeah, I'm a geek.

For some reason the "Grrrr... Arrg" or even TALKING about it makes me a little bit choked up and happy tearful. Every time. WTH? I'm freakin nuts.

Haven't watched Dollhouse yet- the premise sounds totally dumb but they typically do. Joss is ALWAYS good. <3

I liked it. I love everything Joss does. I have to wonder one thing. Why do all the female leads need a male handler? I don't mean it to sound as bad as it probably does,

Buffy had Giles, Wesley and Angel watching out for her. When Fred turned into Elyra (did I spell that right) Wes was charged in handling her. Mal watched out for River. Now Echo has Langdon as her handler.

Maybe I'm rambling, but it was something I noticed.

I'll admit...the first little bit of the show I was thinking, "OMG FAITH!!" but after that she wasn't so bad. I think it's a great workout of her acting training (because of the character changes)

I enjoyed it. I doubt it will last long, but it's entertaining for the time being.

Eliza wasn't too bad. Still can't act but it wasn't a train wreck.

It did get me curious. I found myself wanting to see the next episode so that's good. But, then again, I'm afraid of getting too attached. I know I know, it's a TV show but still.

I thought the pilot's storyline was actually pretty good.

It didn't rock my world but for a bored mama on bed rest with nothing else to do it peaked my interest.

Although the acting isn't very good, I like the idea of the show. I'll keep watching it.

im a geek too.

ive watched both episodes so far. i done actually get this channel, im house sitiing for folks who do, so im enjoying the time, but probably wont be able to keep watching (so sad!) im not up and up on whats happened with fox and joss whedon. i got hooked on his shows when my dad lent me his box sets of buffy and angel. im a huge fan now. he has firefly and serenity on dvd too. im getting them in march when i visit. woohoo. i hope for his ske and ours that it progresses and continues. he is amazing, but in general tv watchers are not so slick(no offense intended..). but he has a huge following, so you never can tell.
