anybody catch Dirty Jobs last week??

My husband tivo's Dirty Jobs, and I just finished watching the one from last week becasue Mike Rowe was at a diaper service facility. It cracked me up! His facial reactions were hilarious. I did like the fact that he mentioned that the smells and work didn't seem so bad when you considered '2 billion tons of paper, plastic, and human waste go into landfills every yerar'. Anyway, just didn't know if anybody else saw this!

Yup, we saw it. And it sparked an entire conversation over diaper service vs doing it ourselves. Especially since our water company is talking rationing. So I looked up diaper services for our area, and that one Mike was at actually is one of only 2 options for us.

I was terribly shocked to find out that there is actually only one service in our entire metro area. The other services our area, but is something like 80 miles away.

Oh, I see what you mean. I actually don't use a diaper service, I wash myself. I'm too much of a control freak to send them out. I don't think it's a big deal to clean 'em myself, but if you don't have a washer, etc, the diaper service is a good option. Looked like they were pretty good at inspecting the diapers, etc, and making sure they were clean!

my dh had to hunt down the episode for me once i heard about it, it was interesting, and i am super jealous of their washer and dryer!

Except with that washer and dryer the diapers only last through 43 washes before having to be replaced. If they're washed every week, that means they don't even last a year! And having to go through 13 washes/rinses to get clean... that also seemed like a lot to me, although considering the week-old, dried on poo they were dealing with, maybe not.

I saw it a few nights ago! I loved the end when the crew was wearing the diapers. It was interesting to watch- we wash our diapers and I had no idea what went into a diaper washing service.

I had been waiting and waiting for this episode - I run a diaper service and heard he was going to do one. I thought it was great for letting people know there are alternatives. Although I wasn't too thrilled with all the plastic bags they were using...

that is hilarious! i didnt see it, but my dh has said several times when watching me scrape poo into the toilet that i should be on that show!! im gonna have to have him search for that episode!

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought about that. Good point, guess I'm glad that I wash my own.
