cupping?

Has anyone tried cupping for their allergies or other conditions? I don't think it's well-known at all, but thought I'd ask.

It is something I'm wanting to try, but have to find a practitioner first.

I've had acupuncture with cupping on my back (for an injury), and it was AMAZING. Is that the same kind of cupping that you're talking about?

Yep, that's what I had done. I will tell you that it is a little more uncomfortable if they use an actual flame. The first acupuncturist who did it on my back just used some suction device to stick them on. But it was the ONE and only treatment that I noticed immediate pain relief.

I would be very curious to know if there are any applications for gut health.

I've had it done once. It was quite painful, left some nasty bruises, and I didn't notice any improvement.

My accupuncturist offers it as part of her treatment options, but she totally leaves it up to the individual. After not having any results the one time, I decided I didn't care to do it again.

I have some friends who are big fans. We have some nasty seasonal allergens here in the Southwest.

bumping b/c I've been studying traditional middle eastern cupping (aka wet cupping/bloodletting/hijama) the past couple weeks and there ARE specific places on the body to do the cupping to help with allergies, colitis, GI symptoms, LIVER DETOX (which is what I think would benefit us the most).

I'm actually looking into having it done by a practitioner of chinese medicine here in town, as well as, taking a training course so I can also practice cupping

I'll keep you all posted
