enough about the mother's right to breastfeed in public. what about the baby's rights to breastfeed!

Well, that's what I always think. But I would imagine legislators would shy away from this because of the problems inherent in defining the upper age for the breastfeeding baby.

In DC, the law is called "child's right to nurse".

Note that it is called a CHILD'S right, not baby's right. Or Mom's right to breastfeed. This fact is a direct result of some parents on DC Urban Moms working together on the language of the law - the original draft did not contain language about the Child's right.

Nursing Women Become Protected from Discrimination in DC

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty signed into law the “Child’s Right to Nurse Human Rights Amendment Act of 2007” (Bill B17-0133) that unanimously passed in City Council. This law amends the DC Human Rights Act of 1977, as amended, to change the definition of discrimination on the basis of sex, and ensures a woman’s right to breastfeed in any location where she has the right to be with her child, public or private. The law requires employers to provide reasonable daily unpaid break periods and a sanitary location so that breastfeeding mothers are able to express breast milk for their children. This law also requires the Department of Health (DOH) to monitor breastfeeding rates in DC and the number of and nature of complaints regarding violations of this law received by the Office of Human Rights (OHR).

lol, well, technically, it would be the opposite in both cases, seeing as nutrition is actually leaving your body, right? Nevermind, too off topic, just made me giggle.

OP: Good point. Nothing else to add, sorry.
