what to put under wool cover???

Please help! I've got an Aristocrat soaker, a pair of longies, and 2 wool soakers made by grand-grandma (too cute)... but I'm not sure what to put under them. I know I could just "play" around with it, but with a newborn, sleep is at a premium right now and I'd prefer to get good advice from those who are in the know.

I tried putting a snappied CPF under the Aristocrat at night, but my 5-week old woke up CONSTANTLY... and I ended up changing the CPF 4 times because I was convinced the wake-ups were from feeling wet. I guess I could have tried two CPFs with a microfleece doubler in between?

I have one Kissaluvs fitted that I could try underneath the wool covers for night time, but that one tends to get soaked during the daytime too. Not sure how long that one would last...

What do you lovely ladies put under your wool soakers or longies for nighttime use? Do I need to be changing him every time he wakes... or is there something that will keep him happy all night long (or at least half the night???)

Thanks in advance for your help... I'm hoping to get one or two more wool covers and convert to wool when he's out of all his newborn covers... but I have to figure out the system better!

i use prefolds, though mine are cruddy and i'm going to get some good ones today. i'm not so sure about the wool yet it seems itchy to me and DS was up whining 4 times last night but when i took the wool off he slept through the night ...
ETA: night time i would suggest a fitted with a doubler and a stay dry liner. that should cover all of your bases.

A prefold with a fleece-topped hemp doubler, and sometimes another thin hemp doubler under that. Never had a leak, DS would have nice dry skin in the morning.

I have a heavy wetter (sounds like you might too if he is soaking through KL's quickly). I use a aristocrats cover.

Underneath I put a diaper that I sewed. It is a pocket diaper made out of hemp (no PUL just hemp on both sides with a pocket to stuff more hemp in it). I stuff it with hemp inserts or cotton inserts.

If you don't sew a comparible choice might be a really absorbant fitted (KL's aren't that absorbant) like a goodmama. There are other absrobant fitteds that are cheaper, but I don't know what ones would be good, sorry.

Nighttime diapers for heavy wetters are a challenge. We actually used sposies at night for a while because nothing was enough absorbancy. Now that we are in the process of nightweaning it is getting better.

For my toddler I used a toddler PF and a premium one folded as a doubler - for lack of other doublers - not a leak once! I snappied it....

I've had good luck with my ds with Sugar Peas fitted (2-size) for night - it's hemp and very absorbant, but also dries fast because of the style. It only comes in 2 sizes, not a million, so that's a plus, and it also fits better than a one-size.

We also like to use hemp doublers, hemp is so absorbant! If your baby doesn't do well feeling wet, but you don't have a diaper with a fleece inner, you can always just buy some fleece at the store and cut it to size to lay inside. Microfleece liners (like you can buy at diaper stores) are softer, but the other ones work, too.

I use my regular fitteds or prefolds.
