Stripping diapers and detergent questions

I'm in the process of trying to get rid of some stink. As recommended by others here I've done a hot wash with a bit of Dawn, with a cold rinse. Now I'm doing the additional rinses and watching for bubbles. In the agitation stage of the current rinse I saw some bubbles when I lifted the lid, but they dissipated quickly after the washer stopped moving. I'm assuming this means I'm close. Should there be zero bubbles when I lift the lid, or are a few normal?

Also, how much detergent should I be using? I've read 1/2 the man. recommend amount, but that still seems like a lot so I've been using less.

(My stinky diapers are ones I just purchased on DS, not ones I've been using)

I think a couple bubbles are normal, as long as they dissipate quickly. I mean, if you shake up a bottle of water, you'll probably get a few bubbles, but they go away quickly. My personal preference is to do hot rinses, though, rather than cold. I feel they are much much more effective.

How much detergent probably depends on what type of detergent you're using. Charlie's for example, recommends you use the full amount... so it sort of depends.

I'm using Purex free & clear. I'm doing one more rinse now, and then I think I'm going to give it up. Hopefully this will work.

If I still have stink what should I do? Boil them?

i use that deterg. i use 1/2 the rec amount.
what temp is your water heater set at?
i do a cold prewash with deterg, then a hot water (heater set at 135 degrees). then a cold rinse with 3tbsp of vinegar, then a last cold rinse.
then i dry in a hot dryer.

i think it sounds like you got the dawn out. if they still stink, i would boil them. its a pain, but it works. when i used to use liquid soap from the grocery store, i liked to use 1/4-1/3 - i thought half was too much as well.
