How do you know if baby is allergic?

I am wondering if maybe my 7 week old is allergic to dairy and soy...I am breastfeeding and poops all day long...sometimes it seems like it is diarrhea and not the regular seedy kind of poop. What are symptoms of this allergy?

Everyone is different. For my kids, being gassy and inconsolable with reflux were the biggest symptoms. As they got older, their sleep got worse instead of better. My 9 month old only woke 1-2x/night when he was a newborn. He peaked at about 8-10x/night, but now is getting better as we track down the culprits. Many moms see eczema as a key symptom.

I don't know about soy but for us, dairy allergy symptoms were:

Cow Milk Protein Sensitivity (CMPS) induced GERD (reflux)
very green (like pesto or thawed frozen spinach) poops with white mucous, and sometimes blood, very watery diarhhea, constantly pooping a little bit a million times a day
dark circles under eyes
significant sleep disturbance

After a year being off dairy, we trialed it and had
increased waking at night
symptoms of cramping (arching, curling up, crying out)

In addition to total diary elim diet, probiotics have been extremely helpful for us.

My ds had symptoms start pretty much as soon as he popped out, and while in the womb. He hiccupped A LOT in utero which I know now is a sign for us. Just today he started hiccuping, and I know something is going on because his hot spot of eczema is flaring and his butt is red. Anyway, other signs for us was severe GERD which caused his consant waking at night and choking all through the night, eczema, rashy cheeks, mucusy stools, very fussy behavior that could not be explained, painful burps, and a lot of hiccuping. His symptoms are most severe with dairy, and also exist with soy protein. He gets hives when touched with egg. The one and only time he accidently consumed dairy (vs. being breastfed dairy) he vomited and rashed up.

Oooh I am very curious. My DD was just diagnosed with eczema after showing food allergies during intro of solids. She also hiccuped like crazy in utero and as a newborn. The hiccuping stopped until just recently it came back again. I thought it was just one of those things. What, if any, is the connection?

Thanks
