gluten intolerance and poor growth

If your LO has a gluten intolerance, have they also had poor growth or been underweight? Either from a moderate intolerance, to full on celiac's?

Any children for whom a gluten intolerance has caused no growth issues?

My LO is gigantic in weight and height for his age, and I am wondering if a gluten intolerance is unlikely given his massive size and steady growth. Thanks!

DS was dx via RAST last July with a wheat allergy. The SPT this past Dec was negative for wheat. But he hasn't had any wheat since July.

His growth has been completely normal. He is large for his age (16 mos - he's as big as some 24-mo-olds in his daycare), but not overweight.

My kids were in the 95%+ for height and 60-75%-ish for weight, both of them, before we went off gluten. Interestingly, both dropped in height and pretty much matched up height and weight after we went off gluten (they're closer to 75% for both height and weight now) (the kids were 15mos-ish and 3.5yrs, so it was interesting that both changed at the same time with our dietary changes).

Growth problems can be indicative of celiac disease or gluten intolerance and are often a side effect. However, one can certainly be gluten intolerant or have celiac without growth problems. It is not diagnostic criteria in and of itself.

My dd is gluten intolerant and may or may not have celiac. She was in the far high end of normal growth patterns until a year old when she started showing malabsorption difficulties and got really active all at once. Now she's 18 months and climbing back up the charts (after seriously plummeting to the bottom).
