painful left breast - am I drying up?

I am currently nursing my 2 yr old ds, but very sporadically, mostly mornings, and a little at night. Yesterday, I noticed some pain coming from my left breast at the nipple, radiating down the armpit and upper arm. It's a pinched nerve kind of feeling, hurts when I move my arm - but I don't know if that's what it is. I think ds ends up nursing a lot on the right breast these days, could the left be drying up? I don't know what the symptoms are. There is no swelling, no lumps. I breastfed my dd for 3.5 years and when she finally weaned, there was no discomfort, so this is new to me. I just had my period 2 weeks ago, so I don't think it's pms. any ideas as to what is happening? thanks.

hi,
hope your feeling better and have figured out what this might be. i had pain in one breast after bf for years - it was inter-ductal yeast. i didn't have any of the typical yeast symptoms.
just a thought i had when reading your post. if it hurts after nursing on that sight, it might be one thing to investigate.
all the best-
